Where else on the main stream can you find an incredible 2.6 miles of frontage on the wild and scenic Pere Marquette River, the finest trout stream in the state, Sweetwater Township, Lake County, Michigan, five miles west of Baldwin.  The property has remained undeveloped for 70 years as a scenic part of Cannon River Ranch, their cherished “land across the river.” They have never before offered it for sale. This river was the location for the first brown trout introduction in the United States in 1884. Rainbow trout were planted a year later in 1885, and those early introductions developed into a self-sustaining migratory steelhead population. It is the largest river in Michigan without a dam and one of only two rivers in Michigan where the State regulates canoe, kayak, and fishing boat traffic to preserve its wildness. Today, the river nurtures large resident brown trout and provides world-class year-round fishing opportunities for rainbows, steelhead, and Chinook salmon.
